DESCRIPTION
Araldite Topcoat TU is a two component coating based on Araldite epoxy resin. Each component is factory weighed and packaged ready for on site mixing. The resin component is white and hardener is coloured to give a visual check on complete mixing prior to use

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
PREPARATION

New concrete or cementitious substrates should be at least 28 days old when moisture content of the surface should be below 5 %. All laitence and loose material must be removed from the concrete surface. If the concrete is sound and strong with light laitence this can be achieved with acid etching followed by thorough washing with water. The substrate must then be left to dry. Cracked or damaged concrete or heavy laitence should be prepared by grit blasting or scrabbling until a solid surface is reached showing exposed aggregate. The surface should then be levelled using Araldite Holefiller.
Surfaces contaminated with oil or grease should be flame cleaned or thoroughly washed with a good detergent then rinsed and left to dry. All steel surfaces should be shot blasted until free of all traces of corrosion. Prime with Araldite Primer 011 or Araldite Primer 012. For operating temperatures above 60q C only Araldite Primer 012 can be used.

MIXING
Mechanical mixing of resin based materials is preferred whenever possible. In order to avoid trapping air in the material, mixers running at less than 400 rpm are recommended.

APPLICATION
Araldite Topcoat TU is supplied as two pre weighed packs in exact proportions. No other materials should be added.
STIR CONTENTS OF EACH TIN THOROUGHLY.
Pour the entire contents of the hardener into the resin and mix until a uniform colour is achieved.
Apply to the substrate using a trowel, roller or brush being careful to leave no pinholes or breaks in the coating. With rough concrete, work the coating well into the surface using a stiff bristle brush. Apply in two coats each of approximately 300 g/m2. This corresponds to a dry film thickness of about 200 microns per coat. Rough concrete may require more material.
Ensure that the second coat is applied within the stated re-coating interval. If not then intercoat adhesion will be impaired. The colour of the coating will darken during hardening and following exposure to sunlight.

CURING
The coating will be touch dry within the initial hardness time. Aggressive chemical should not be applied until after full cure. The coating darkens to brownish following exposure to sunlight without loss of chemical or mechanical properties.

CLEANING DOWN
Use Huntsman Cleaning Fluid

COVERAGE
Araldite Topcoat TU

10 kg. pack covers 32 m2 at 300 g/m2 (single coat). Rough concrete may require more material.

STORAGE
Shelf life of 12 months minimum if stored below 25a C.
