Araldite® Multilayer Screed

2.5 MM. NON-SLIP EPOXY FLOORING
USES
A durable epoxy floor screed with a tough non-slip surface. Ideal for areas subject to aggressive waste and frequent washing such as slaughter houses, dairy process plants, bottling plants and any areas requiring a non-slip surface in wet conditions

SPECIAL FEATURES
** TOUGH, NON-SLIP SURFACE
* HIGH CHEMICAL RESISTANCE
* HARD WEARING
* EASY TO CLEAN
* ATTRACTIVE RANGE OF COLOURS

DESCRIPTION
Araldite Multilayer Screed is based on Araldite epoxy resins. The screed is built up in three layers. Araldite Multilayer Primer is a three-component epoxy system applied by normal steel trowel and sprinkled with quartz sand. Two layers of this system are applied to make a tough durable substrate 2-2.5 mm thick.
Araldite Multilayer Screed
Topping is a two component coloured epoxy system applied to the hardened priming layers to form an attractive easily cleaned wearing surface

JOINTS
Any movement joints should be continued through the screed and properly sealed.

CURING
The new floor will withstand foot traffic after reaching initial hardness. Heavy traffic and chemicals should not be allowed until after 7 days.

CLEANING DOWN
Use Huntsman Cleaning Fluid.

COVERAGE
Araldite Multilayer Primer

30 kg pack covers 12 m2 (two layers of total
thickness 2.5 mm).
Araldite Multilayer Screed Topping
12.5 kg. pack covers 15-16 m2

STORAGE
Shelf life of 12 months minimum if stored below 25s C.

CAUTION
Keep uncured epoxy materials away from the mouth, food or drink.
Do not use empty tins to store food even if they appear to have been cleaned.
Always wear gloves or barrier cream when handling uncured epoxy materials. Clean any splashes or smears from the skin immediately using warm water and soap.
Avoid inhaling vapour.
Do not use below 59 C.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
PREPARATION

New concrete or cementitious substrates should be at least 28 days old when the moisture content of the substrate should be less than 5 %.
All laitence and loose materials must be removed from the concrete surface. If the concrete is strong and sound with light laitence, this may be achieved by acid etching followed by thorough washing with water. The floor must then be left to dry. Cracked or damaged concrete or heavy laitence should be prepared by grit blasting or scabbling until a solid surface is reached showing exposed aggregate. All dust and debris should then be removed. Surfaces contaminated with oil or grease should be flame cleaned or thoroughly washed with a good detergent.

MIXING
Mechanical mixing of resin based materials is preferred whenever possible. In order to avoid trapping air in the material, mixers running at less than 400 rpm are recommended.

PRIMING
Use only Araldite Multilayer Primer. Stir the contents of each tin thoroughly. Pour the entire contents of the hardener into the resin and mix until uniform. Slowly add all the filler and mix until fully blended.
Once mixed apply a layer approximately 0.7-0.9 mm. thick using a normal steel trowel. This will require 1.0-1.2 kg of mix per square meter. Sprinkle all areas heavily with quartz sand in the size range 0.4-0.8 mm. After this layer has reached initial hardness strongly, brush away all loose sand. Mix and apply a second layer of Araldite Multilayer Primer. Using a normal steel trowel spread the resin mix approximately 1 mm thick. This will require 1.3-1.5 kg of mix per square meter. Sprinkle all areas heavily with quartz sand of grain size 0.4-0.8 mm as before. After the second priming layer has reached initial hardness strongly brush away all loose sand.

APPLYING THE TOPPING
Araldite Multilayer Screed
Topping is supplied as two pre-weighed pack in exact proportions. No other materials should be added. Stir the contents of each tin thoroughly. Pour the hardener into the resin and mix until a uniform colour is achieved. Pour the resin mix onto the hardened priming layers and spread out with a steel trowel. Scrape the resin mix firmly across the priming layer in all directions to ensure that it penetrates fully the sand layer and expels all air. If this is not done correctly air bubbles will rise from the sand during curing leaving a defect in the topping. Finally scrape away all excess resin using a steel trowel to expose the peaks of hard quartz through the surface of the topping.
