Araldite ® Epoxycoat W.B.

WATER BASED EPOXY COATING
USES
Provides an easy to clean and attractive protective coating for cementitious or asphalt substrates. Suitable for walls and floors in warehouses, garages, light industrial areas, food processing and pharmaceutical production areas where only foot traffic and light vehicles are expected

SPECIAL FEATURES
* SOLVENT FREE
* HARD, DURABLE, SEMI-GLOSS FINISH
* EASY TO CLEAN
* ATTRACTIVE RANGE OF COLOURS
* GOOD CHEMICAL RESISTANCE

DESCRIPTION
Araldite Epoxycoat W.B. is a two-component water dispersed coating based on Araldite epoxy resin. Each component is factory weighed and packaged ready for on site mixing. The resin component is coloured differently to the hardener to give a visual check on complete mixing prior to use

CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
Araldite Epoxycoat WB
shows good resistance to dilute acids, alkalies and to the common detergents used for cleaning.

CAUTION
Keep uncured epoxy materials away from the mouth, food or drink.
Do not use empty tins to store food even if they appear to have been cleaned.
Always wear gloves or barrier cream when handling uncured epoxy materials. Clean any splashes or smears from the skin immediately
using warm water and soap.
Avoid inhaling vapour.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
PREPARATION

New concrete should be at least 7 days old. All laitence and loose material must be removed from the concrete surface. If the concrete is sound and strong with light laitence this can be achieved with acid etching followed by thorough washing with water. The floor must then be left to dry.
Cracked or damaged concrete or heavy laitence should be prepared by grit blasting or scrabbling until a solid surface is reached showing exposed aggregate. The surface should then be levelled using Araldite Holefiller.
Surfaces contaminated with oil or grease should be flame cleaned or thoroughly washed with a good detergent then rinsed and left to dry. Asphalt surfaces should not be coated if freshly laid since the asphalt will release volatile vapours, which may blister the coating. The asphalt should be 3 months old before coating and should be scrubbed with a detergent solution and allowed to dry before application.

MIXING
Mechanical mixing of resin based materials is preferred whenever possible. In order to avoid trapping air in the material, mixers running at less than 400 rpm are recommended.

APPLICATION
Araldite Epoxycoat WB is supplied as two pre-weighed packs in exact proportions. No other materials should be added. In order to prevent
excessive absorption of the binder into the substrate it is necessary to ensure that the concrete surface is slightly damp. This is best
achieved by passing a damp mop over the surface shortly before applying the coating.
Stir the contents of each pack thoroughly. Pour the entire contents of the hardener into the resin and mix until a uniform colour is achieved. For the first
coat only, dilute the resin mix with up to 15 % soft water and apply with a brush or roller.
Apply a second coat without dilution and within the stated over coating period. Wet film thickness should not exceed 200 microns or drying out may
be impaired.
It is essential that material is always applied within the stated pot life of the mix. Beyond this time there is no obvious change in the appearance of the mix
but adhesion and gloss of the coating will be progressively impaired.

CURING
It is essential that all water is able to evaporate from the coating before the film cures. If not, water will be trapped in the cured film. For this reason, it is essential that the coating is used only at temperatures above 15a C and with adequate ventilation. The coating should then be allowed to cure for 7 days before exposure to aggressive chemicals.

CLEANING DOWN
Use clean water to clean tools before the coating hardens.

COVERAGE
Araldite Epoxycoat WB:
2.5 kg. pack covers approximately 12-14 m2 in a single coat of 120 microns. Rough or highly absorbent concrete will use more.

STORAGE
Shelf life of 12 months minimum if stored below 25-C.
